Frequently Asked Questions
What would I expect therapy to be like?
My focus in our first session is build trust and understanding so you feel safe in opening up. I recognize that our relationship is the most important part of therapy and strive to create an affirming space for you. I am curious to learn more about you, what led you to seek out therapy now, and what is important for you to set goals around.
In the following sessions, I will ask questions about your history to explore how the past may be impacting your present. Together, we will create a goal plan to ground our work together and celebrate your progress. Throughout our sessions, I will strive to equip you with resources, tools, and insights.
What steps would I take before my first scheduled appointment?
- If you plan on using insurance, please contact your insurance company to understand your benefits including any deductibles, co-pay, or co-insurance amounts.
- You will be provided online paperwork to complete prior to our first session that includes explanations of confidentiality and its limits, your rights as a client, and my office policies.
- Feel free to write down thoughts of what you would like to talk about in our first session and to take notes during the session.
For telehealth sessions:
- Try to find a private space to have designated for your therapy sessions where you can be alone and not interrupted. If you cannot safely engage in therapy in your home, please consider alternate options such as sitting in a personal vehicle, going to a park, accessing a conference room at a local library, or accessing a room in a trusted person’s home.
- Test out your technology to ensure you have stable internet access, a working camera, and are comfortable with using the volume.
- Log on to the video appointment a few minutes early to give yourself time to breathe and feel ready.
- Have my contact information available (773-231-7613 and catilin@catcounseling.com) in case you need technical support.
What are your typical fees?
My rate is $175 for the initial session and $155 for on-going therapy sessions. Cancellation fees are the total cost of a session ($155) if there is less than 24 hours notice or no show appointments. If you do not plan on using insurance and paying privately, you will be provided a Good Faith Estimate on your estimated cost of services for 12 months.
Do you take insurance?
Yes, I am currently only paneled with BCBS PPO. I can provide you with a superbill if you are seeking to use your out-of-network insurance benefits.
